Bob Barker to return to 'The Price Is Right' for one show

Categories: Television

Bob Barker will once again come on down to The Price Is Right — but for one episode only, Variety reports. The longtime host of the daily game show, who recently retired and passed the skinny microphone off to Drew Carey, will appear on an episode to be taped on Wednesday in order to promote his autobiography, Priceless Memories. The book will be part of prize packages and also be given to audience members. The episode will air on April 16.

He needs to come back to television, period. Maybe I’m the only one speaking here, but Bob was untouchable as TPIR host. No offense to Drew Carey, but he sucks in comparison. I can’t watch.

Bob was (er, is) the greatest. I look forward to his one-day return. And I must get that book! Then I can review it on my blog.

Ahhh … the good old days of “The Price is Right.” When men were men and women sued for sexual harassment.

I agree with you, Zach. I haven’t been able to watch since Drew took over because I think he’s awful, but I’ll set the DVR for this episode with Bob.

i agree. i cannot watch a whole episode now. i miss bob

Drew’s not Bob, that may be true. But he’s not trying to be, just as Bob wasn’t trying to do Bill Cullen when CBS brought Price back in 1972 (for the kiddies out there in cyberspace, Bill Cullen hosted the original version from 1956 to 1965).

Don’t be too hard on Drew, this is his 1st game show and I think he brings a certain comedic element that Bob didn’t. I had to get use to Drew at first, he was hard to watch, but he’s gotten better and caters to a much ‘hipper’ audience and I like that. You guys gotta let Bob go….

I was in the audience for this!! We were all so excited to see Bob! It was a great episode.

I can honestly say I have yet to watch a total of 5 episodes of TPIR since Drew Carey took over. “Is there anyone you want to say hi to out there?” It’s as if he’s reading it. Bob Barker didn’t ask them, they just said their hellos. It sounds too rehersed. He’s a commidien (and that could be debated too). They should have found someone totaly new … a total new commer to the ET business. They should have had a few trial hosts to see who fit better, not just grab DC and put him in. Yuck!
I will watch on April 16th just to see Bob Barker … but I will only tune in the last 15 mins when he is in the showcase, not before, I just can’t stomach it.

I do miss Bob Barker, he was the best!!! But, I think that Drew is doing a good job. I had to get used to him. I just can’t waite till April 16th! I will also be buying Bob’s book. Too bad I couln’t get a signed book!!! Whishfull thinking!

I grew up watching Bob Barker – since the early 1970s. He’s a very talented and polished host. We didn’t think anyone could fill his shoes.
Drew has really grown into the role – we love him. The show is so much more lighthearted and fun now. Someone said Drew acts like he’s reading lines sometimes – he often uses “deadpan” comedy. He doesn’t take anything on the show too seriously – even making fun of some of the goofy prizes. It’s hilarious! Drew is has been very good for the show. We actually watch the show much more now than we used to.

With all due respect to Carey, who I do like, as a comedian, I would LOVE to see Bob return to Price is Right. Could people blast CBS with letters asking for Mr. Barker’s return? That would be so sweet, if he did!
