EMI Music has announced the departure of its digital music president, Douglas Merrill, a former Google Inc. exec who was at the company for less than a year, in a move to fold his unit into its main operations, reports Reuters. Though the label will no longer run a stand-alone digital division, it has promoted Second Life co-founder Cory Ondrejka to executive vice president of digital marketing. EMI’s roster of artists includes Coldplay and Kylie Minogue, and the company is also home to the Beatles’ catalog.
