Al Gore offers solutions in new book, 'Our Choice'

Categories: Books, Current Affairs

Picking up where his Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth left off, Al Gore has teamed with Rodale to publish his next book, Our Choice, on Nov. 3. "An Inconvenient Truth reached millions of people with the message that the climate crisis is threatening the future of human civilization and that it must and can be solved," Gore said in a press release. "Now that the need for urgent action is even clearer with the alarming new findings of the last three years, it is time for a comprehensive global plan that actually solves the climate crisis. Our Choice will answer that call." The book’s conclusions are based on more than 30 "Solutions Summits" the former Vice President has held with scientists, engineers and policy experts, as well as independent research. It explains how saving the earth’s climate should factor into policies designed to create new jobs and stimulate the economy. All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Alliance for Climate Protection.

although there is a change occuring in the climate.. to suggest that it is in anyway a subsequent result of human expansion and growth of industry, is absurd.. quite frankly I do not buy the fact that we even have the ability, yet, to affect the global climate… its a thing called the sun.. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=5086

I agree with mike. “Global Warming” has long since failed to be about legitimate science and is now religious dogma being crammed down everyone’s throat. What a scam.

Wow he’s going to donate the proceeds to himself. What a guy!

Global warming not real? How sure of that are ya? You do know 85% of this nation’s population lives within 150 miles or so of either coast.
Question for ya, skippy….How long can you tread water.
And don’t even think, for a moment, that your ignorant butt would be welcome in my neck of the woods.

This guy is making a ton of money off a farce !! How comes the earth temperature went down the past two years? We had blizzards in WV today! Where is that floriday weather I was told we were going to have ten years ago? Wake up People

As soon as the old farmers almanac starts to miss when predicting the weather ill start to give some merit to global warming.

DKantor: Global Warming may be real, inasmuch as climate change is constant. The first thing that sticks out in the link you offer is the 100-year span temperature chart. A more honest chart would show the medieval warm period (700-1300 AD) where temperatures were higher than now but, presumably, not influenced by smokestacks or SUVs or coal-powered electric plants. See http://www.john-daly.com/hockey/hockey.htm . Next, consider that Mars is also undergoing a hot spell, which makes me wonder how we got all that CO2 and cow flatulence over there. See http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html .

if you look at a chart of global temperature vs. carbon emissions throughout the last few hundred thousand years you see a rise and fall where temp. is based on the amount of unsequestered carbon in the atmosphere. The difference is our levels of carbon emissions are hundreds of times higher now then ever seen of any peak on the graphs. Seeing as global temperature is affected by carbon emissions, we can only assume that the global temperature will rise accordingly http://www.westernresourceadvocates.org/energy/images/co2temps.gif

I wish he would reinvent the internet. My connection is slow. Blah.

  • SteveInAustin

Uh, yeah. Global Warming is just religious dogma. Just like the theory of evolution! There’s no way for people to influence the climate. Nope, it’s all due to the sun. CO2 in our atmosphere is invisible anyway. How could something invisible influence temperatures? I reject these scientists and their voodoo theories and measurements. Anyone who believes them is just being naive, because they’re all just trying to get funded, and you can’t get funding if you’re saying that global warming isn’t real. Wake up, morans! :)

  • tom

wow! will it tell people how he plans to reduce his $30,000 MONTHLY GAS AND ELECTRIC BILL?????

  • CatZ

steveaustin, global warming is real and you’re a very special person for denying it! no wonder why americans get labeled as stupid..

  • productionman72

@SteveInAustin: “Global Warming is just religious dogma. Just like the theory of evolution!” Are ya KIDDING ME??? So, using your logic of C02 not able to influence temperatures because its invisible, do you deny the effects of gravity? Can’t see it, can’t be real? By the way, you spelled moron incorrectly. Appropriate!

  • Brian

SteveInAustin – Well played. It’ll be a while before they figure it out.

  • Tamburlaine

Call of the libtard: “no wonder why americans get labeled as stupid..”

  • SteveInAustin

@Brian – Hehehe. Actually, I thought people would get the satire immediately. Gotta remember to put more than just one smiley face at the end when I do that. :)

Al Gore is part of the solution. Every one in this forum seems to be part of the problem. You all deserve whats comming to you. Too bad your children will have to suffer as well.

  • mike

ah.. some of you people make me lol.. resorting to making fun of the people who hold opposing viewpoints to yours… why don’t you remove that veil of misinformation which has been perpetuated by the media, as well as the government-run EPA (by the way, guess who stands to receive significant funding when cap and trade is implemented) and do some research.. anon, your co2 vs antarctic temp graph is nothing new.. it shows correlation between the temp levels and co2 levels, not causation… hey steveinaustin, fyi, did you know that a very overwhelming percentage of the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere are water vapors? to the point where the piece of the greenhouse-gas pie the co2 gets, while larger than methane and other gases, pales in comparison to that of water vapor’s; to the point where its concentration doesn’t affect global climate much at all… and that’s not even taking into account that anthropogenic co2 is a much less prevalent than the naturally occurring kind…
