Will & Grace star Eric McCormack has been cast as the lead in an ABC comedy pilot from Tad Quill (Scrubs). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the half-hour show revolves around two friends: a heart surgeon (McCormack) with a newborn baby and a contractor (Blind Justice‘s Reno Wilson) with a newly empty nest. Shasta McNasty‘s Jolie Jenkins will play McCormack’s wife. Constance Zimmer (Entourage, Boston Legal) will play Wilson’s spouse. McCormack’s TNT dramedy Trust Me, costarring Tom Cavanagh, is not expected to return — but it would take priority should a second season be ordered, says the trade.

I’d rather watch Trust Me. Heart Surgeons are not funny!
That makes me mad that Trust Me got canceled. It was actually a really good show. It just makes me mad that TNT can’t give the show time to grow and become something great. But hey, at least Eric got cast in a new show. But to be honest, I don’t see the show lasting. Too bad, though. Because I absolutely love Eric!
