I said while I was reading this book that it would make an excellent movie, I’m very excited to see this!
I have recently strtaed a website, the information you provide on this website has helped me tremendously. Thanks for all of your time & work. The murals in restaurants are on par with the food in museums. by Peter De Vries.
I’m a big fan and am really looking forward to the movie!
the book is great but it will be a challenge to make it a PG-13 movie. Cant wait
yay!!! i love this book!!! i cannot wait to see the movie…but I agree, it’s going to be super hard to make it PG13.
I’m glad that I’m not the only one concerned that it will be hard to stay true to the book and come out with a PG-13 rating. I am so glad that it will be a movie, while reading it I just kept thinking what an awesome movie it would make! I just hope it’s done right.
Hey people I have never even heard of or read the book! But here is some advice, skip this film and book, and check out a japanese film called Battle Royale, based off of a manga cartoon series made in to a feature film. It is about highschool students who have to kill each other off on live TV! This premise has been done before and this movie and novel seem like a rip-off!
Um fail… Battle Royale and The Hunger Games are two totaly different stories. Sure both have the government pitting teens to fight to the death, but once again, totaly different. A Rip-off? now thats laughable from a person who hasn’t even read it to begin with.
shakespear is a lame name for a japanese-manga loving person ! the hunger games are a lot better than a manga and if you protest, dont comme on a hunger games forum. u are like a lamp in the middle of a very hungry pack of muitan wolfs !
you’re right! and plus, anthing marketed towards teens is bound to be awful *cough*twilight*cough*
wats wrong with u shut ur mouth if u didnt read the book.it isnt a rip off i will read the battle royalle thing tho sounds cool
Shakespeare- Not everyone likes manga (I for one hate it) and not everyone likes Japanese films. And if you’ve never even heard of or read the book, then you have no right to call it a rip off. Ignorace is no excuse for being a jerk! And despite the whole having to fight to the death on live TV, the two are VERY different. The situations, characters, reasoning behind the games, etc are all different. The fighting on TV and being set in a distopia is where the comparision stops. The Hunger Games is not a rip off.
I read both the hunger games and battle royal(which started as a novel) and Im gonna have to say that the hunger games is like a rip-off of battle royal’s summary
Yes, it will be interesting to see how they stay within the PG13 parameters with this one…I would guess that most of the gore will have to remain off screen, or the deaths themselves will not be as gory as in the book. I think this is a great book to adapt, and I hope this spurs more interest in the book itself. It’s quite a good read and actually thought provoking as well. Can’t wait for the second installment – September is too far away…
I think it will also help that Suzanne Collins herself is going to be writing the screenplay.
I get sick of people saying this is a knock off of “Battle Royale” YES it’s similar in ways BUT “The Hunger games” has it’s OWN story too plus some sci-fi. I OWN Battle Royale and i am tired of people who are upset that they thinkits just a knock off of Batlle Royale. WHAT..are we NOT aloud to like Bttle Royale AND The Hunger games also? Sorry, I’m not that closed minded. I LOVED The hunger games and cant’t Wait to see how the movie will turn out!!I said from the very begining I thought it woul make a great movie!
As for the peopl who are knocking it before you read it. Buy it,READ it,THEN voice your opinion.
I couldn’t agree more. I haven’t read this battle royal thingy, so I’m not going to say anything positive OR negative about it. But, do you think that Collins would read something like Battle Royal that nobody’s heard of, because, chances are, she didn’t read it until she had already written the hunger games IF SHE READ IT AT ALL! And if chances fail us for some reason, then look toward law. Collins hasn’t broken one of those copyright and plagarism laws. If her fans REALLY ACTUALLY think that it’s a knockoff, then why would they continue reading and buying her books, making her an author of 2 or 3(I’ve lost count) bestselling series! I also agree that those people who agree with shakespeare need to read then compare and state your opinion. they are being piss offs cuz they’re ruining a blog/forum thats original topic was a movie’s rating, auditions, and excited fans!
I think it will be better if it wasn’t PG. Just make it really good! Where can you audition for this anyway?
Ik! i want to audition but i can’t find out when they are going to be!
Generally I don’t read article on blogs, hoevwer I would like to say that this write-up very forced me to take a look at and do it! Your writing taste has been amazed me. Thanks, very nice post.
Is it set on being PG-13? Or is everyone just stating that it would be hard to keep it within PG-13 rating in hope that it won’t be?
I for one hope it is going to be R. Mostly because when people try to make R-rated material PG-13 it ends up really cheesy because they try to extend it to the younger teens..
I am 12, and my parent have only let me see, like, 5 PG-13 movies (HATE IT)! I think the makers have only 3 options if they want to make it good…
1-Make it PG-13 (it would probably end up cheesey though, i agree…)
2-Make it to the VERY LIMIT of PG-13, like one more killing or ‘bad’ scene it would be rated R
3-make it R (I don’t mind waiting as long as it’s good as it should be!!! I think that this could be an AMAZING MOVIE as long as they keep to the book, and I don’t mind waiting for something this good!
4got to add-
I think it should be option 2 or 3, cuz I will be pissed if they screw up the movie! Also because if they do screw it up, they can’t redo it, and the option of sequels will be gone…
wow I’m so excited i realize that if they did it well it would be rated R but I didn’t think Suzzane Colins made the deaths sound as gory as it could have been but hey I read this book in a day so what do i really know
I read the book and can’t wait to see tho mivie! I cried when I read about Rue dying, I hope the movie is good. Does anyone know when it will come out?
i love this book i cried alot when rue died i was so pissed cant wait to see it be maade into a movie
and for the second book=)
