Nickelodeon rebrands portfolio: Noggin becomes Nick Jr.; The N becomes TEENick later this year

Tags:

During an hour-long advertising upfront presentation in New York City on Thursday, Nickelodeon announced it would rebrand all its channels to be easily recognizable under the Nickelodeon name. Preschool-focused network Noggin will become Nick Jr., while teen-skewing The N will become TEE Nick. The Nicotine’s network will keep its current title, as will the flagship network Nickelodeon. The changes take effect at the end of 2009.

The presentation also included the announcement of a multi-platform deal with Nick Cannon (who recently signed on to host NBC’s summer smash America’s Got Talent). Cannon, who is well known in the Nickelodeon universe via previous shows on the network, All That and The Nick Cannon Show, will be a creative consultant for TEE Nick and develop projects for the network.

I guess TEENick is better than the runner-up suggestion: Nick o’Teen.

I am really sad that they are changing Noggin to Nick Jr. Noggin is by far a more superior name and it is just fun to say. Really Nickelodeon? Do you have too?

I liked the Noggin name as well. Nick Jr for me was always associated with programming too old for my 3 year old. Hopefully they will be clear as to what programming Nick Jr will have and for whom should be watching.

They have took away “Gullah Gullah Island” from the lineup. None else.

Moose and Zee are the hosts of Nick Jr.

Noggin, yes. Nick Jr., no. Why “fix” it if it isn’t broken?

Sprout added The Wiggles to their lineup. You can’t make MY youngest girl sad now.
She loves The Wiggles. She’s no longer as interested in the Nick shows any longer.
Good thing she loves Sprout. Else this would have made her sad.
USE YOUR NOGGIN. Find a replacement in case the Nick folks don’t listen to you! EXPERIMENT! By then, you’ll have options.

The name is irrelevant, it’s the programming that matters, and currently Noggin’s is pretty poor…Olivia in favor of Blues Clues? Terrible.

Anybody worried about Noggin’s shcedule when it becomes the new Nick Jr. Don’t worry. The new Nick Jr will still have the same shows that are currently on Noggin, and some of the shows that were on Nick Jr will return. It’ll be the same channel but with a different name. The new Nick Jr’s motto will be “Preschool On TV”/”Play With Us”. Combination of the Noggin and Nick Jr mottos.

I think changing Noggin to Nick Jr is as rediculous as when they took Kidstuff on Sirius and changed it to KidsPlace! It is totally rediculous- it just shows you once again that the media is trying so hard to make our kids act older than they need to. I don’t want my 2 year old watching older shows for a reason, and if it gets too “old” I have NO problem going back to DVD’s instead of tv.

I’m worried I love noggin, it’s the only channel my daughter is allowed to watch during TV time. If they start to put stuff like Spongebob on this new Nick Jr. channel I will be very disappointed Noggin was exactly the programming my daughter needs at her age, all the other Nick programming is not age appropriate for her 4 yr old mind.

Its ok! They still have the same lineup!
