In response to another round of upsetting tabloid reports claiming that Patrick Swayze’s fight against pancreatic cancer is nearing an end, the actor tells People that his battle continues — and he’s holding his own.”It’s amazing to me that the tabloids such as the National Enquirer print such negative stories about me and my health when there are so many positive things going on in my life right now. I’ve started a new chemotherapy and, once again, I am one of the lucky ones with pancreatic cancer that is responding well to the treatment. There is a brand new, 12-week-old, Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy named Kumasai in my life who is gorgeous and already showing that he will be one special dog.”I am starting work on my new book, in addition to enjoying the fantastic response from everyone on my A&E series The Beast.I hope in the future, the press will think twice about printing inaccuracies and painting an unpleasant picture when I have so much to be thankful for at this time.”Two weeks after EW.com broke news that Swayze and his wife, Lisa Niemi, intended to write a book, they signed a deal with Atria Books to publish his inspirational memoir, which will focus on his life, as well as their marriage and her experience caring for him since his January 2008 diagnosis. Swayze filmed the pilot for The Beast, in which he stars as a gritty undercover FBI agent, in December 2007. After responding well to treatment, he filmed 12 more episodes of the series from July to November 2008, while undergoing chemotherapy. The show premiered on A&E in January 2009.Swayze is known as an animal lover. At a 2005 photo shoot with EW, he referred to his dogs as “my boys and girls.”More on Patrick Swayze:

His positive attitude is so awesome. There is so much negativity in the press and people are so quick to right his obituary. I would love to see how any of these jerks handle adversity. You are an inspiration Mr. Swayze.
