Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston cancel their engagement

Categories: Current Affairs

Bristol Palin, 18-year-old daughter of former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, has called off her engagement to Levi Johnston, the 19-year-old father of their newborn son, Tripp, People.com is reporting. The young couple shot to notoriety during last year’s presidential campaign, and became the target of many comedians, including Tina Fey in a Saturday Night Live satire of the VP debate between Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and then-Sen. Joe Biden. In the skit, Fey, as Palin, said she was against gay marriage because she believed marriage was "a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers." About the split, Bristol told the Associated Press that she was "devastated." Johnston said the breakup was a mutual decision.

And the entire world said…”Yeah. That sounds about right.”

  • Ugly Jenny

I feel sorry for them, I really hoped that they would get married but I think they’ll be able to be good parents without getting married, or at least I hope so.

  • reeny

The one to suffer most in this will be the innocent child. He will grow up in a broken family. Ideal situation to bring a child into the world is with both a mother and a father. Is this rocket science? No one has common sense these days?? Sad.

  • Sam

the best thing for a child is a happy, healthy parent to raise them – whether it is a man or woman or some combination of the two.

  • John

They were NEVER going to get married – it was all a political thing so that Mom wouldn’t look bad while running for VP – and what a joke that was!

  • bloodbath

Typical white trash. No one should be surprised – it was always a fake engagement – as fake as her mother, Sarah.
No one should be surprised when they finally admit Trig is hers too.

  • KYJurisDoctor

I guess SILLY Sarah Failin’ and her family finally figured it was time to end the CHARADE, and NOW is as good a time as ever! OsiSpeaks.com

Where is the prolife movment now? These Palin women are welfare cases.

  • CeeCee

    S. Palin obviously is a hypocrite with her obsession to have government intervene in the most personal lives of everyone. In favor of funding for big government to restrict education that teaches the biology of the birds-and-bees, use of pencillin (because it’s about evolution), and science in general (stem cell research to help Parkinson’s patients, spinal cord paralysis like Christopher Reeve’s, and Alzheimer’s victims, she has always been more into speaking in tongues while spending on herself. Her child turned out the exact same way that many in the Deep South still do when fundamentalist religion overtakes reason and parental role models.
r job, while her child has a child out of wedlock

How does anyone still actually believe that? Frankly, I don’t care about any Palins or anyone else, but anyone who passed 8th grade science is (or should be) aware of the fact that Down Syndrome is most prevalent among older mothers. Go read a book and stop being so venomous.

  • Jerry Ulibarri

The Republicans wanted this to be our Second Family.
    Amazing.

  • jojo

Go back and read your science books- downs syndrome is also more likely when the mother is quite young – both ends of the spectrum with a slightly higher risk in the older

  • Me

Down’s syndrome is also prevalent among DRUGS USERS. LEVI IS A KNOWN DRUG USER. His mom is a druggie/ dealer. He is known to deal in the area as well. I don’t know about Bristol, but one would imagine if the boyfriend uses drugs…she likely does as well. But either/or using drugs produced the first Down’s Syndrome baby. Please. Even Sarah’s staff does not believe the first baby is Sarah’s. And Sarah had an affair with her husband’s best friend/ business partner. NO moral character, any of them. Sarah is corrupt and immoral.

  • Person

Guy/girl below me, yes, Bristol uses drugs, or at least she used to. I went to school with her for a short time, and she was a known heroin user.

  • Eliza J

Only about nine percent of total pregnancies occur in women 35 years or older each year, but about 25% of babies with Down syndrome are born to women in this age group. The incidence rate for a 45 year old mom is 1 in 35. The likelihood that a woman under 30 who becomes pregnant will have a baby with Down syndrome is less than 1 in 1,000, but the chance of having a baby with Down syndrome increases to 1 in 400 for women who become pregnant at age 35. This fact is sited from http://www.nichd.nih.gov/publications/pubs/downsyndrome.cfm
Jojo, if you have a reputable site to support your claim, please list it so that we can view these facts.
    Thanks,
    E

Why is it that so many young girls won’t give their kids up for adoption? That would have been the best solution, but Sarah Palin and her daughter were too selfish to do that. The baby would almost certainly be better off with 2 adult parents rather than with a teenage mom and dad. The self-less thing to do is let the baby be adopted.

i can’t believe the hateful dribble this blog is posting it really shows the IQ of you libs, crawl back into the hole you came out of, i bet your life is no bed of roses, the usa should have a mandatory IQ to vote,

  • BeckyBoo

Women under age 23—1 in 2,000 births
Women at age 30—1 in 1,300 births
Women at age 35—1 in 400 births
Women at age 40—1 in 90 births
Women at age 45—1 in 32 births
Women at age 50—1 in 8 births

  • BeckyBoo

What hateful dribble? I have seen many facts and statements alleged to be facts. In FACT, it’s those on the right who much more often deal in lies, distortions and deceit. And it’s so like those on the right for someone to ALLEGE ‘hateful dribble’, but not point out a SINGLE example! Hateful dribble is wrong. Saying that this site is full of it is a lie.

  • omg

BeckyBoo ya what ever, only the right tells lies, get a grip,

Too bad we almost had a really good set of role models in the White House.

And that’s what they want you to think. That’s just another child who is more likely than not to be a burden to society. I hope the church is ready to help. They talk as if they have a plan for every child. – good luck.

  • Palinspet

If these two lovebirds can’t make it work, who can? Weren’t these meth using high school dropouts supposed to be an example for teen pregnancy and all of its benefits? I love me some god fearing sin hating right wing psychos. Their sad drug filled fake closeted lives make my day so much better! HAHA! Bristol is now damaged goods. Maybe Levi can be the new Bachelor! I love America.

  • John Spenser

Bristol – I think you’re hotter than your Mom and I can’t wait to see your next proud moment on stage at the next RNC. Luv ya!

  • HAhaHa

I feel bad for saying this – but what a joke! You call this news? The American people that had their eyes open, saw this months and months ago!
The only thing I am surprised by, is that they made an announcement…but something tells me we haven’t heard the last!

    YOU BETCHA!!! (wink, wink)

  • Jack Allen Hyde

There’s no surprise in this. The shotgun engagement foreshadowed a post-election retraction. But the Rabid Right lives on fantasies. “The earth was created 6,000 years ago. Global warming has nothing with do with oil. All facts are political.” Social pressure is shaming more and more of these lemmings into opening their eyes and minds. But we can’t wait for them to catch up. Let’s move on and they can catch up later.

  • James

can we please stop talking about this family and their tarded babies. I love it when people equate being selfish to being intelligent. If there were an “IQ” test that is required for your vote to count, what would all the inbred nut jobs do? The republicans would actually have to cater to poor minorities to buy votes. ha, I can see it now.
