So if a man did something bad, he then gets no second chance, huh? We should put Chris in jail and no relationship for him afterwards, is that what people are saying?

If we’re ony talking about this incident, lets focus. Rhianna (Superstar) was upset when she finds a text of another women on her boyfriends cell phone. She then loses her mind and starts hitting him while he is driving a car. Now, if he (chris) was to get in an accident and have something serious happen where he couldn’t say she was hitting on him while he was driving, she would probably go free but feel somewhat guilty (maybe). Instead, Chris unleashes some fury while driving because he’s upset that (1) she had no right looking through his belongings (2) if she saw he was talking to other women she should have asked him to pull over and exit the vehicle or wait to break up with him when they got home. She could have been civil with the break-up and all would be good. Instead she resorted to violence and the man had to defend himself or at that point had to set her straight; after all he’s human too!!! Don’t just defend her…

Regardless of how irate and jealous Rihanna got, she did not and I repeat DID NOT deserve to get beaten to the point of near unconsciousness. Anyone who states otherwise is just trying to justify the situation, trying to justify that domestic violence is okay. And under NO CIRCUMSTANCE is it ever. If Oprah wants to do a show on Domestic Violence, let her do what she damn well pleases. If you have a serious issues with it, don’t watch it, don’t read the articles. If you believe that there are circumstance where domestic violence is permitted, maybe you should consider if you were beaten to near unconsciousness. And if that’s still okay with you, then I hope you all get beat the same way Rihanna did.

I think that both their careers will probably suffer: Chris will always be seen as an abuser, regardless of what happened in that car (which we don’t know all the details yet) and Rihanna will lose the respect of many fans because she took him back (which is typical of many abuse victims). Sad for everyone involved.

I wrote to Oprah on DV- never heard back. The court system is so corrupt in S. Jersey there’s an underground railroad that leads from here to Canada-if you have $$. We continue to b victmized through court
Oprah used to care about us- now Hollywood. She sold out. She ought to join the Peace Corps that will take off the pounds real quick. Instead of zillions of dollars on fat farms, expensive trainers, lipo, -spa’s-In fact the Government should make it mandatory for all gluttons to join the Peace Corp. The rest of the world refers to us as big fat American pigs & rightfully so. American greed has got us in a no win situation w/the economy & we’re taking the rest of the planet w/us. Oprah’s a hyprocrite- like the rest of the wealthy- mega rich from Regan’s trickle-down economics to help us-made the rich richer- trickled up their pants-suddenly actors-athletes were making 250%+++ jumps in salary from a mil a film to 90mil- Oprah is sooo liberal- so OBAMA-then give us our money back!

This crap is so up tyra’s alley. Opie and GAYle should stick to giving away toaster ovens. I will never feel sorry for multimillionaire superstar “victims” who can make their own decisions. I used to be a fan, but oprah is just a cause of the moment ratings whore who doesn’t really care about anything and is full of *?@#. So fake.

Touche’ My momma and I watched her when she first came on the air because she seemed so genuine and caring. Not the big fat overpaid lyposuction Queen Glutton we see today. Just because these overpaid pop stars have 15,000. shoe laces does not make them better than us or more important. The economy has gone haywire and has been way out of control. The result as I see it isinsatiable greed that’s trickled down into the mainstream. In fact backstabbing and untrustworthiness is rampid in the US. I don’t know about the entire world. I’m glad my grandma’s dead.

Oprah knows nothing about domestic violence. She’s never even been in a relationship.
I am offended by Oprah saying “all the Rihanas.” Rihana does not represent domestic abuse victims. Rihana has money and opportunity most people will never have. Rihana chooses to stay with an abuser; it’s her own fault. fromwembleypark.com

Everyone bashing Oprah doesn’t see the point. It’s not about Rihanna, it’s about all the impressionable women who watch TV and develop opinions based on that. Ri’s the most high-profile victim of abuse in a while. But if she doesn’t speak out against it, she’ll send the message that beating is normal. Oprah’s trying to show them that that’s NOT how it works. Some girls just don’t know better.

  • Hazel

Lyn, what do you mean Oprah knows nothing about this and has never been in a relationship? Her history of childhood sexual abuse is well-known, she’s worked with abused women on her show for years, and as for a relationship, she’s been with Steadman for years now. What on EARTH are you even talking about?
I see so many people here commenting that Rihanna has money and opportunities that the average abused woman will never have, and so if she goes back to Chris Brown for good, she somehow deserves it. Wrong. No one EVER deserves abuse. And the biggest obstacle to leaving an abuser, for both Rihanna and the majority of abused women, has nothing to do with money – it’s psychological. Haven’t any of you out there who judge her so harshly ever known and loved a woman who keeps going back to the wrong man? The answer is not to cut someone who has a problem out of your life and heart for fear of the pain they might cause, but to recognize their illness and offer support – as Oprah is doing.

You’re absolutely right Jane. Of course if you put it that way. Better than running a nail in your foot. At this point we’ll take whatever we can get. It’s not justOprah, it’s all who profited from Reganomics,w/more money than God.esp. Hollywood- They throw us a bone & we get so excited we want to martar them. You aren’t understanding my point. It’s like the Jesus story when the wealthy men gave gold for the church and a poor woman gave her last & only penny- then the rich mocked her. The moral was Jesus loved the woman because she gave all she had-not pocket change to clear a conscience.

  • Helen

You are 100% right, Hazel. Abusive relationships become completely psychological. Money, success, friends, family-none of it matters and victims will typically stay with their abuser for many sad reasons. I think it’s great Oprah is doing this episode. I hope she also touches on verbal and emotional abuse.

  • kyle

I am a man and I am sick of women saying they are the only victims. Men are beaten every year just as much as women are, AND more women are arrested each year than men. It is an unfair steretupe to say only men beat their partners. Oprah doesn’t know Chris Brown and has no room to judge. None of us do. If he wasn’t a celebrity it wouldn’t have been an issue. No woman/man should EVER, EVER be abused. NO MATTER WHAT. But Oprah is making it a bigger deal by dedicating her show to ALL THE RIHANNAS. It is great she is having a show but don’t make Chris Brown and Rihannas sad situation more dramatic than it is already.

would be highly appreciated if Oprah would not wait until a high profile cirsis occurs before she addresses such important topic. she never gets involved in establishing a line of constructive communication. instead, she consistently rubs the soars, after gruesome things happen.

  • Sugar Daddy

I am looking forward to watching this show, even though Oprah is sometimes a bit off the mark, I think she’s right on this one. I wish she would do a show on these alarming new sugar daddy websites like SeekingArrangement.com – where the girls are finding wealthy men to get them through these tough economic times. Is this prostitution, or is it smart?
