Oprah Winfrey will air a live show this Thursday, March 12, devoted entirely to dating domestic violence, the Associated Press reports. Winfrey said the episode is "dedicated to all the Rihannas of the world." Last Friday, Winfrey spoke out on her show about the news that Rihanna had reconciled with Chris Brown, who was charged last week with two felonies alleging he punched, bit, and choked Rihanna until she almost became unconscious. "Love doesn’t hurt," Winfrey said on that show, "and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. I don’t care what his plea is; he will hit you again."

Well, that’s all well and good, but if she’s trying to reach out to Rihanna, or get a message to her, maybe she should stop calling her “Ree-Hanna” – with a big ‘ol H in the middle like she did during the entire segment on Friday.
Will she do it if this were a white woman?
ReHanna! I kept laughing about that on her show on Friday… even though Gayle kept saying Rihanna’s name correctly, Oprah just couldn’t get it right.
I’m extremely happy that Oprah is doing a show on this. I don’t think enough people in the public eye are stepping up and talking about this situation.
So true, oh-PRAH! Are you reading??? Her name is ree-AH-nuh…not ree-HA-nuh. Slight dif in the pronunciation guide…big dif in the pronunciation!!
Ah, Oprah – always quick to jump on the crisis of the moment in that quest for the almighty ratings point. One of these days you’ll show the right side of your face and everyone will finally see you for the hypocrite you are.
Meh is right. OW is a talk show host & not a trained mental health professional. It shows when she speaks to her guests, too. Despite her being a survivor, it’s like she has no clue as to what these people are going through.
Her tone is often pious and self-righteous – not what a victim needs to hear. Unless she has a group of qualified professionals, not pop-sociologists hawking books, to help educated, I don’t see this being any more than a standard TV side show.
Huh. An article about someone taking a stand against domestic violence the children on here make jokes about how someone’s name was pronounced. Wow. Says a lot.
Thank you Oprah for coming forward to air this special show. Please give a voice to all the women who are beaten raped or killed every day. All you others out there please if you have nothing positive to say please say nothing.
My husband thinks that somebody should slap Oprah around.
Perhaps I should have read Sharon’s request before I posted that last one. He did say it, though.
“Dedicated to all the Rihannas of the world” – you mean all the women who are fortunate enough to be hugely successful, financially independent pop stars and are yet incapable of leaving their abusive boyfriends? Yeah, that’s a HUGE demographic…
Hey betsyburg, maybe your husband should slap you around and that’ll give you a better perspective on things. Smartass.
It’s only for women? What about the more taboo subject of women who beat men in a relationship?
The comments on this post prove that gender discrimination is more prevalent than racial discrimination in this country. “Someone should slap Oprah around”? Why? Because she is a rich, powerful woman? Because she is trying to bring light to domestic violence? If she can educate the public on this health issue, more power to her.

If Oprah wants to do a show on domestic violence, do one.But dont take advantage of these kids situation.Kids that just so happen to be celebrities.Domestic violence has been around for years, not just since a month ago. As for Oprah trying to give advise she needs to try to marry Steadman instead of living in sin as they have been for so many years. Im tired of hearing about the situation and pray that everything works out the best for these two.
