    A remake of a 2007 movie??? Wow, they’re getting desperate…

  • Alia

Why would they remake a movie that came out less than two years ago? Shouldn’t they at least give it a decade or so to either fade from popularity or gain cult hit status?

This movie was fantastic the first time around — it does not need to be remade! Are there any original thoughts left in Hollywood? What is wrong with these people??

  • Stephanie

The reason that this movie was so fantastic was because it was an English film. This just doesn’t make sense.

Well this really sucks. I love quite a few of the people that will be in this, but it’s really unnecessary. Why are they remaking a movie that came out just 2 years ago? Death at a Funeral was brilliant. And what made it so good was that it was British. It looks like they’re turning it into an African American movie this time around. And I think it will be completely predictable. I can already picture it in my head and hear all the jokes they’re gonna do. Sigh…

It was funny because it was British. This is going to be a ridiculous piece of crap.

This is just WRONG! How can you remake such an amazing film only 2 years after the first was made? It will completely lose all the subtleness that made it such a good film, and be turned into an in-your-face obvious movie :| And the really galling thing is that this will probably get more publicised and distributed. Is it really that hard now for writers to get some new ideas without copying them off the British?

Or…Or…because the original is such a new movie and not an obvious attempt to cash in on something really popular (tell me again, how much did DAAF make, 100 mil, 200?), this could incredibly smart and give screenwriter Rock (way funnier than yelly screamy actor Rock) a chance to shine. It’s too early in the morning, chumps. Shut up.

This is stupid. The movie is only 2 years old and it was awesome. I’m not sure why Rock and Lawrence find the need to butcher something that’s already been done well. Why don’t they try writing their own stuff?

    • DeCarlo

Sorry to burst your bubble Miranda, but chris rock DID WRITE the first one. So he has the right to do this as well.

This movie, only made 14 million worldwide, so its not that popular of a movie, when it releases this time it will surely crack 14 million, in the first week. so it is a good idea, based on how good u guys said the premise of the movie was

Did all of whiners forget that the best part of being a consumer is that you have a choice to watch and patronize any movie you want? If you believe that the British got it right then do not go and see the American version. Its that simple. You guys must be bored. I am.

  • chris

i think people are pissed because even if everyone who knows how amazing the original version was stays home, there are so many stupid people out there who will see it, it will still be a financial success. then we will have more terrible 2 year remakes. just look at how bad the transformers movies are and how many stupid people saw those.

  • chris

now we have to deal with gi joes and a movie about the viewfinder toy. and i think they are making a candy land movie. kinda makes you want to vomit just a bit

  • Andy

One of the reasons this movie was so funny is because we are used to the British as being boring and droll. When these unexpected series of events happened to this ordinary family it was extremely funny. Why try to recreate this masterpiece other than to pander to a different demographic and make money.I guess they don’t care about comedic timing.Money make da world go round.
