The Academy Award that Heath Ledger won for his supporting performance in The Dark Knight will go to Michelle Williams, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Oscar will then pass to Heath and Michelle’s 3-year-old daughter, Matilda, when she turns 18 years old. Since last month’s ceremony, there had been some question as to whether Ledger’s family, who accepted the award on his behalf, would hold on to the Oscar themselves until Matilda was 18. But Academy spokesperson Leslie Unger told the Los Angeles Times that the statue will be delivered to Williams once it has been affixed with an engraved plate sometime in the near future.

With all due respect, who the he11 cares?
I’m not putting my name on this, because I know people like to attack each other on here. I think his parents should have kept the Oscar, Michelle wasn’t even his wife!
Well, I’m going to put my name on this and I’m glad that Michelle is getting the Award on behalf of Matilda. It’s not like she gets to keep it for herself; she’s only holding on to it until Matilda is old enough to have it. Just because they never got married doesn’t make their relationship any less significant. She is still the mother of his child and this is in the best interest of Heath’s and her daughter.
Um hey dumbasses, they were married & then got divorced!
Well JayNYC if you don’t care why bother reading this and commenting on it? I’m just sorry he isn’t here to keep it for himself.
The Oscar should go to his kid, plain and simple. She’s his sole heir, and a part of him, so obviously, her mother should hold it until she reaches 18. It’s a no-brainer. Rest in peace, beautiful boy. The world will never be the same without you. You are so deeply missed.
