The Hollywood Reporter‘s got the news: Pretty in Pink‘s Andrew McCarthy will be joining the Gossip Girl spinoff as Lily’s father, a music company exec. (The show will follow the teenage years of Serena’s mom Lily, played by Brittany Snow, in 1980s Los Angeles.)

Guess that puts a fork in Lipstick Jungle. Last I heard NBC still hadn’t officially announced that it would be cancelled. Or am I wrong about that? The whole thing went back and forth so I have no idea anymore. Sad face
I really liked LJ. But I am super-duper excited about this GG spin off and frakkin’ Brittany Snow!!!

NBC offered Lipstick Jungle to cable network but no response.
So I guess it’s dead.
