Horton Foote, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies, died on Wednesday in Connecticut at age 92, the Associated Press is reporting. No cause of death was announced. The author of nearly 50 plays over seven decades, Foote also won the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for The Young Man From Atlanta. He wrote and produced the 1985 movie The Trip to Bountiful, which was based on his play and won Geraldine Page an Oscar for Best Actress.

A great screenwriter and playwright. He may even be represented at the Tony’s this year for his sweet little play Dividing the Estate. He was working up until the end, even stating in a recent interview that he had more plays in him. He will be missed. RIP.
