ER actress Angela Bassett will make her directorial debut with an indie feature film project called United States, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on author Percival Everett’s novel Erasure and adapted by Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, United States is a dramatic comedy about a black writer named Monk Ellison, who experiences a crisis of conscience after he pens a phony autobiography in the voice of a street thug from the ghetto that becomes an unexpected literary sensation. Bassett will produce the movie with her husband, actor Courtney B. Vance, under the couple’s Bassett/Vance Prods. banner. Production is set to start this summer.

A.Bass!!!!! Good for her. I honestly will watch ANYTHING she is involved in
how about she come up with something original instead of a crappy incident that happened on the oprah show years ago.
“ER actress”? That’s the one credit you choose to augment her name? That’s like calling qualifying Halle Berry with “Boomerang co-star”
Duy – spot-on. how about Academy Award nominated actress?
Chris – get a life.
Fatima – I agree whole-heartedly. Angela Bassett can do no wrong!
I cosign with Fatima. I look forward to supporting anything Angela Bassett delves into. Directing is going to be a very good look for her. I hope she does a Spike Lee cameo, you know how he always has to appear in his films. lol!
Duy – Thats reporting. That titled her “ER actress” to let readers know about her current work and where we can see her now.
