Maria Bello, Abigail Breslin, and Samuel L. Jackson have signed on to star in Rape: A Love Story, a drama based on the 2003 Joyce Carol Oates novella of the same name. Harold Becker (Domestic Disturbances) will direct the adaptation with a screenplay from veteran TV writer John Mankiewicz (House), Variety reports.

Why are they making this into a movie? The book was horrendous. A simplistic story of revenge that Oates seemed to have jotted down on a napkin in between her other projects.
