This is really similar to that Ewan McGregor movie, The Island.
This sounds almost exactly like that film with Scarlett Johansson and Ewen McGregor, “The Island”. Couldn’t they come up with a more original plot? The first one was pretty awful.
I love this Ishiguro book. I hope they do it justice.
It is a very similar plot, but this film is based on a great book by the wonderful writer of Remains of the Day, among other things.
Sadly, the fact that they’re clones is actually quite a big reveal in the book, not something the reader knows at the start. I was shocked to see it printed here.
Please stop comparing this to “The Island.” “Never Let Me Go” is an amazing piece of literature. The actually stories and messages could not be more different.
The island was very poorly executed piece of crap… but the messages are pretty much the same… the value of human life… of the human spirit…the danger of corrupting that. Never Let Me Go is a beautiful novel that tells the story a lot more elegantly, hopefully the film will be the same.
It’s a great book – I’m greatly disappointed to see the pivotal plot point revealed here, however.
Scarlett Johansson “actress”actually is a clone from original person, who has nothing with acting career.Clone was created illegally using stolen biomaterial.Original Scarlett Galabekian last name is nice, CHRISTIAN young lady.
Nice going EW, you just revealed the most crucial point of the book (revealed after a hundred pages or so) in a few short sentences.
EPIC FAIL.
It will be a terrible film.
Thanks for the spoiler, EW. I hope Bruno is getting his butt chewed over this blunder.
No way they can do justice to this book with an over-the-top actress like her. Should have chosen someone better.
Prove me wrong. I want to have my expectations defied. Shine on this, KK, and I will admire you again.
One of the most boring and pointless books I’ve ever read. A “sci-fi thriller”? Hardly.
An amazing book that is in no way ruined by knowing the “twist” (which comes a quarter of the way into the book, anyway). It’s still haunting and fascinating, and I think Knightley is almost perfect for the role. I’d love to see Ang Lee direct it, though.
I am so excited that Knightley will star in an adaptation of this novel. She is a very fine actress and I believe she will do the part justice.
