Television icon Ed McMahon has been hospitalized in intensive care in Los Angeles, the Associated press is reporting. The 85-year-old announcer and former Tonight Show sidekick has been in the hospital for several weeks, suffering from pneumonia and other unspecified ailments, according to spokesperson Howard Bragman. The AP reports that a person close to McMahon says his illnesses also include bone cancer. McMahon was Tonight Show host Johnny Carson’s announcer from 1962 until Carson’s retirement in 1992. He also appeared in commercials for American Family Publishers’ sweepstakes and hosted Star Search from 1983-1995.
