The Razzies: Mike Myers and Paris Hilton 'win' big

Tags:

Mikemyers_lOn the eve of the Oscars, the decidedly less coveted Golden Raspberry Awards were handed out Saturday night to some of the least acclaimed films of the year. Mike Myers’ The Love Guru was the night’s big winner, taking home Worst Picture, Worst Actor (for Myers himself), and Worst Screenplay. Paris Hilton also earned Razzies in several categories, including Worst Actress (for The Hottie & The Nottie), Worst Supporting Actress (for Repo! The Genetic Opera), and Worst Couple (with either Christine Lakin or Joel David Moore in The Hottie & The Nottie). Other Razzie winners included Pierce Brosnan, who brought home Worst Supporting Actor for Mamma Mia!, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was named Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel.

What’s with Paris winning? Repo was a great movie and she actually did a pretty decent job in it.

I completely disagree with Pierce Brosnan winning Worst Supporting Actor, it should have gone to Uwe Boll for his cameo role in his own “Postal”. “Indiana Jones 4″ also should not have won Worst Sequel, it should have gone to both “Disaster Movie” and “Meet the Spartans”.

Indiana Jones gets a Razzie? I love this film and thought it was no better, no worse than the other Indiana Jones films. Why is it suddenly “cool” to bash Spielberg/Lucas? A worldwide gross of a billion dollars suggests that most disagree with this Razzies choice. It’s as if the Razzies said, “Hey, let’s choose a movie that most enjoy to bash”. How pretentious.

I thought the new Indiana Jones was great! And Paris Hilton got a Razzy for Repo!? No way! That was actually one role that I didn’t hate her in! Repo was awesome!

As long as there are Saw movies, the worst sequel/ripoff/prequel/remake category should be in safe hands. No way does Indy Jones deserve that.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks giving a Razzie to “Crystal Skull” was a bit much. Frankly, the Razzies lost any importance when they gave “Worst Actor” to Bush for being shown in news clips in “Farenheit 9/11″ and Britney Spears for a ten second clip in the same film. It’s not just bashing what other people seem to like to bash, not as much on the really horrid stuff as past years.

I don’t get it. Indiana Jones wasn’t a great movie, but there is no way it was worse than any of Seltzberg/Friedberg’s stuff.

I agree with the Indiana Jones choice. It was a big budget, CGI mess, devoid of wit or imagination.

I’m a huge Indy fan, but I must admit, this Razzie was WELL deserved. A big part of it is how much it disappointed after being one of the most hyped and eagerly awaited films of all time, but I think it took home the prize on it own “merits”. Just a bad, bad movie, up and down.

“Raiders” was a wonderful update of “Casablanca,” with the heroine owning the gin joint. How did Indiana Jones survive a nuclear blast? What company would build a refrig with enough lead to stop any kind of radiation? It would crash through the floor of most kitchens. The ants? Swinging on vines faster than moving cars? According to the rules of “biggest rip-off” – yeah, the voters got that one right.

The Razzies need to start meaning something more than just a easy way to make slight ‘bad’ movies. What about ‘The Reader’? Best picture, really? Twilight was better, and it was barely mediocre. Benjamin Button? I have had bowel movements that were just as long and far more interesting. The Razzies need to take more risks and not pucker their lips to the studios ‘Oscar’ flicks and start putting some of these flatulent messes in their mix….

I’m so glad Indiana Jones was named Worst Sequel. What a terrible piece of crap that movie was.
And to “God”- You think Twilight was better than The Reader and Benjamin Button? You must be a 14 year old girl with no critical taste whatsoever. Twilight was one of the worst movies of the year. It was a bad book to begin with, and they turned it into an even worse film. Mediocre is a word too kind to describe that piece of trash movie.

Paris jokes are too easy. A nom for Hottie and Nottie yes, but the multiple noms are the low-hanging fruit of Razzies. And all the multiple nominating seems lazy … But I like better that they went outside their usual zone with PIERCE BROSNAN – what a handsome man, but his singing voice is like the bellow of a seal being clubbed!

Many times the Razzies are too harsh but this year they are pretty accurate. Even though I got a few good laughs at the Love Guru it was pretty bad–maybe that is why some things were funny. I agree jokes and comments about Paris are like shooting fish in a barrel. thanks Razzies for warming us up for the real awards tomorrow.

    Dear GOD,
You seem to be preoccupied with fecal thoughts. Maybe that’s a sign that you are truly a SH*THEAD. Seek mental help immediately!
