Tom Cruise’s to-do list is about to get a lot longer, according to Variety. The 46-year-old actor, fresh from the success of Valkyrie, is currently being wooed by at least five studios as he tries to decide which film to make next. The long list of candidates–from which Cruise is expected to film two this year–includes:
* MGM’s The Matarese Circle, a Robert Ludlum adaptation to be helmed by David Cronenberg. Cruise would play a Russian spy. Denzel Washington is also attached to costar.
* The Tourist, a Spyglass remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, which would also star Charlize Theron.
* Universal’s Lost for Words, a romantic comedy about an actor (Cruise) who falls for a Chinese director (Ziyi Zhang), inciting the jealousy of her on-set interpreter.
* Dreamworks’ Motorcade, a Len Wiseman-directed action thriller about a president whose vehicle is seized by terrorists.
* Hardy Men, the long-gestating buddy comedy (currently in rewrites) costarring Ben Stiller.
* The Champions, which is based on the British TV series about government agents rescued from a Himalayan plane crash by a civilization that imbues them with extraordinary abilities.
* Wichita, a Fox comedy about an undercover agent (Cruise) who falls for an unlucky-in-love woman, possibly to be played by Cameron Diaz

Motorcade sounds like a Tom Cruise film.
Good for him. He’s a talented actor; nice to see him getting his career back on track…
I think Hardy Men would be a good choice for Mr. Cruise. He seems to have a good friendship with Ben Still in real life and they have a natural chemistry. Also, Cruise got big kudos for taking on a comedic role in “Tropic Thunder”. He might as well build on the goodwill. I wouldn’t mind “The Champions” either. A good super hero type movie is a new role for Tom and could put him back on top.
Is it just me, or do all of these choices seem godawful?
Dear Tom,
Do us all a favor and go back to your home planet. And take your Stepford wife with you. Neither of you will be missed.
People STILL want to pay to see Tom Cruise???
Lost for Words or The Tourist …. those are the ones I would like to see Tom in. They sound good.
Rom could not pull off German, how is he going to pull off being Russian?
Please do not ruin the Matrese Circle by putting him even in the movie!
don’t worry about the nay sayers Tom keep bringing the hits!
if it’s some sort of action/i’m a hot shot type-movie character (which is the only thing he really succeeds at) then fine. otherwise, please make him go away.
The one with Denzel Washington would have to be good – those two together would be riveting.
Good to see a hard-working guy who takes risks winning out. Makes the nay-sayers a kind of “ornamentation”, eh?
