Ticketmaster and Live Nation have confirmed earlier reports that they plan to merge, according to the Associated Press. The deal, which may still be subject to an antitrust review, will create a single company called Live Nation Entertainment whose activities will encompass concert promotion, event ticketing, artist management, and more. "Being able to put Live Nation and Ticketmaster into an equalpartnership will allow the companies to get through this difficultperiod and be able to expand live entertainment options to audiencesthroughout the world," said Ticketmaster Chairman Barry Diller in astatement.

Anybody who goes to a concert now would have to be out of your mind or wealthy. I wonder what the cheapest U2 ticket will be?

They were supposed to be severing their contract with Ticket Master!

I want to know why it’s legal for Ticketmaster to own their own broker site, Ticketsnow. Seems like that would open them up to all sorts of fraud claims, like I don’t know, maybe holding back face-value priced tickets from the regular on-sale and dumping them into the ticketsnow site so they can make more money off them, just a thought . . .
