Michael Jackson sued over 'Thriller' video

Director John Landis (Coming to America) has sued Michael Jackson for breach of contract regarding the 1983 video for "Thriller," which Landis helmed and cowrote. He claims that Jackson has failed to pay him 50 percent of the profits that the video has earned during the past four years, TheWrap.com reports. According to reports, Jackson continues to license rights to toys and other ancillary media based on the 14-minute video and its accompanying documentary. Landis filed the suit last week in California, shortly before it was announced that "Thriller" could become the subject of a Broadway musical. The Associated Press says that a phone call left for an attorney who represents Jackson was not returned on Wednesday.

UPDATE: Landis filed another suit on Wednesday, which would prevent the "Thriller" Broadway musical from going forward at this point in time, TheWrap.com is reporting.
