Joaquin Phoenix’s publicist insists that the actor’s recent foray into rap music is no hoax. Responding to growing speculation (including an EW.com story in which two people close to Phoenix say that his plans to retire from movies to focus on a music career may be an elaborate put-on), Susan Patricola told MTV News, "The transition from one career to another is never seamless. It shouldcome as no surprise to anyone that Joaquin came from a musical family,in addition to winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of JohnnyCash…. He intends on exploring hismusical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions."

And if you buy that, I’ve got some real estate…
B U L L S H I T! This is way too lame/stupid to be true. He’s trying to pull an Andy Kaufman, and it might have worked if he didn’t blab to his friends that this is a joke.
Yeah, this is the real deal and I have the Intersect stuck inside my head.
Can you say DAMAGE CONTROL. HA Joaquin is either drugged out or crazy…or both.
Reminds me of Andy Kaufman.
jauquin is crazy on letterman feel bad for him even if it is an act he seems pathetically out of everything
Anyone who knows anything about Joaquin
Phoenix knows that he HATES doing interviews and is always uncomfortable when in the ‘hot seat’. As much as I love Joaq,
I do have to say that his behavior was def. bizarre.
i just watched “walk the line” again and after seeing this Letterman performance,i am shocked that hollywood can again let fame, money, drugs, etc. get to another great actor. this man needs help from some one that truely cares for him, the man and not how much fame and money he can make for others!!!! this is the 1st time i have ever responded to anything on the internet. i hope someone saves him fast!!!!!
He appears psychotic: Drug-induced psychosis, mental illness, or both? He needs some psychiatric help.
Someone please, please, PLEASE get this boy into rehab! Like now!
You people are so unbelievably gullible.
I would just like to say that I will be the first in line when he puts a cd out. As far as I’m concerned, whether acting or making music, he has an incredible amount of talent. And he’s not on drugs. You think you go through something like that with a family member and then go the same route yourself? Not so much. Maybe people should just stop attacking him for doing what makes him happy. And honestly, I hope it’s a joke, because I absolutely love his movies. All of them. But if not, I’m sure his music will be just as good. Whichever route he takes, he will be completely successful.
To TJ what world do you live in. I see it everyday. My sister in law died of a heroin overdose and my other sister in law still smokes crack. so yes it happens. I live an Baltimore and can guarantee you that families go through this all the time. He is definitely on something. Did you not see the rap video of him where he falls off the stage at the end. Addiction isn’t a pretty thing. Addicts watch there friends die everyday and keep snortin, smokin, or shootin. So don’t tell me that you honestly believe just because River died doing speedballs that Joaquin wouldn’t use drugs. Please. Turn your computer off, go outside, and see how it is in the real world.
Tip #1: Usually, when a celebrity is on drugs, their rep won’t go on spouting that “this is not an act.”
its a sastranomical relationship guys.
