that is such sad news because she was the most pretty girl on earth my dad loved her and he is upset
I saw her at a family event 3 months ago and she seemed quite well. It’s tough to hear that someone with so much personality left was cut short.
Man oh man, recently, I’ve added her songs to my imeem playlists, especially her french songs, which I adore. I am saddened by the news, first James Brown dies on XMas day last year and now Grand Dame Kitt has made her exit this XMas. I will rewatch Eddie Murphy’s Boomerang, which she has a killer funny cameo, in her honor.
Ms Kitt was very classy. Which is missing from so many so-called female entainers, take notes girls.
I’ve Never Seen Ms. Kitt Preform Live; However I’ve Seen Her In Her Movies And TV Appearances And She Was Tha BOMB!!!! She Was Sexy, Smart,Beautiful Woman That Had A Very Unique Voice When She Spoke!! Also When She Sang, My God…What A Voice!! I Shall Miss This “Santa Baby Very,Very Much”!!! Thank You Eartha For The Many Years Of Entertainment!! And That Perfect “Purr” Of Hers, Just One Word WOW!!!! When She Played “CatWoman” On The 60′s TV Show…Eartha Kitt Is/+Was “THE CATWOMAN”!!! not Those Other Wanna Be’s!! When She Was In Eddie Murpys’ Movie In “Boomerang” In 1992; Eddie Was Very Fortunate To Of Had Her In It!!
Hearing about Harold Pinter’s death was upsetting enough and then to hear about Eartha Kitt only a few hours later… words fail.
My earliest memory of Miss Kitt was Catwoman (Julie Newmar and Lee Merriwether were fine but Kitt was definitive for me)… then her riduculously campy but infectious ’83 disco hit “Where Is My Man”.
I was lucky enough to see her perform on New Year’s Eve a couple of years ago – she had the energy – and legs! – of someone a quarter of her age!
I thought she’d live to be 100 or beyond but at least we’ll always have her body of work to remember her.
I’m a frustrated mimic, and love to sing “Santa Baby” every Christmas like Eartha Kitt. She was one of those outrageous women who made no apologies for who she was. Outstanding, and RIP, now you can be “scary beyond all reason” in heaven. Make that “wonderful beyond all reason.”
I still remember my childhood watching her on Batman, always enjoyable. We will all be dead someday. Be kind, enjoy life.
What a lady! I will always remember Miss Kitt on the early days of Ed Sullivan Shows.. she was dynamic and so sensual. I agree with George Kitchens 111 comments about her later years. I was so thrilled to have seen Eartha Kitt in ” Timbuktu” on Broadway in the 70′s. Eartha, stopped the show and I never laughed so much in my life. She was amazing. But the biggest thrill, was seeing her invited to retun to the White House by President Jimmy Carter, with full wadrobe from her character in Timbuktu designed by Mr. Geoffrey Holder.
That sly look and slinky apperance made me love her even more….”justice has been served ” she seems to be saying. i will really miss her. God, what a Lady
RIP Ms.Kitty.
I will never forget her voice. It was mesmerizing.
What a class act! I was able to see one of her last shows in October 2008. She was wonderful. Hitting every note and even doing at little of the “charleston”, on stage. RIP Miss Kitt. Join me at http://www.runarounddiva.com/Music.html in celebrating the life of a remarkable woman.
Eartha had a huge bush. Just sayin’…
Alex Riddick obviously likes the comnpany of men *wink wink*.
